Safety NL is a leader in ATV, UTV and Snowmobile safety training in Newfoundland and Labrador. Whether it is required for work, or for recreation, we want you to be as safe as you can be. We are committed to reducing the number of injuries and fatalities that occur each year and our qualified instructors help us to achieve this.

Knowing all you can about your ATV, UTV or Snowmobile and the places you can ride is the best preparation for safe and enjoyable riding. Our courses are 6.5 to 8 hours in length and training is provided by instructors certified nationally by the Canada Safety Council. The curriculum, which is based on field-tested techniques, provides a fun and orderly way to learn proper off-road vehicle operation.

Riders learn the following

  • Recognizing and accepting it as a motorized vehicle and use of controls
  • Reading terrain, turning, climbing hills
  • Varying operating conditions
  • Good judgement and courtesy
  • Recognizing your own capabilities and limitations is also a very important factor for the safe operation of your oof-road vehicle.

A signed consent form is required from a parent or legal guardian if the student is a minor. No child will be allowed to ride without written parental consent.

IN NEWFOUNDLAND LABRADOR, REGULATIONS STATE:

  • A person under 16 years of age may only operate an off-road vehicle that is within the manufacturer’s recommendation for the age and weight of the rider.
  • A person under 16 must be supervised by a licensed driver at least 18 years of age.
  • Appropriate certified helmet is mandatory.
  • An operator who is required to complete training under the Act shall, while operating an off-road vehicle, carry proof of completion of the approved training.

A signed consent form is required from the parent or legal guardian. No child will be allowed to ride without written parental consent and without the parent or legal guardian present.
